Chainbox PIM took the complexity out of the ERP system

Since 2012, Chainbox has delivered Alulock's e-commerce solution, serving both B2B and B2C customers and built on Umbraco CMS. The update to Chainbox v5 brought in Chainbox PIM for efficient product data management, and at the same time the ERP system was changed from an older system to Uniconta.

“Chainbox PIM has made working with product data much more efficient, with far fewer chances for errors. Data uploads used to take us several days, now we can do them in 1-2 hours.”

Business Developer, Alulock ApS

Before the ERP system was changed to Uniconta, product data that wasn't essential to the ERP system had already been moved to Chainbox PIM.

“Besides making the product workflow much smoother in Chainbox PIM, it also made the move to Uniconta less complex. There were quite a few customisations in the old system that we didn't have to carry over into Uniconta, because PIM now handled them,” Luca recalls.

“I'm impressed by the shop's standard mobile view - it just works,” says Luca Lonardi.

Technical products and knowledge sharing

“We have a webshop that works well and that we're very happy with,” Luca says, and adds: “Even with our technical products, which come with a lot of data such as certifications, type approvals, guides and instruction videos, it's all handled smoothly in both the webshop and Chainbox PIM, without any special customisations.”

There are some areas, though, where Alulock finds that customisations have added value:

Finding the right combination of products for a project can be complex and time-consuming. So there's functionality that lets the sales rep create a quote directly from the basket in the webshop.

Where the item bought is made up of several components, the individual component descriptions are shown automatically on the product page. That's important information for the customer, Luca says, and it comes straight from Uniconta.

An inspiring focus on projects

“It's usually a need for advice and a special solution that brings customers to us. That's why the content side is a very important part of our webshop,” Luca stresses. “This is where we can show the solutions we've delivered to our customers, and that's how new customers with similar projects find us.”

Standard Umbraco functionality links projects to the products used and vice versa, giving customers a detailed insight into the individual solutions.
