B2B webshop with PIM and ERP integration

Grøn Fokus is part of DAGROFA FOODSERVICE A/S and has supplied food to the hotel and restaurant trade since 1999. Today it's Denmark's largest supplier of organic food, which puts high demands on the technical solution for self‑service, both for the customer experience and, just as importantly, for the processing afterwards.

Background and wishes for a new B2B webshop

The requirements for the technical solution were twofold. It had to be very easy for Grøn Fokus' staff to create and maintain product data. And the webshop had to make it very easy to order products, reorder from previous orders and share favourite lists between different users.

Moving to a new B2B webshop

Grøn Fokus ran its own hosted ERP system with all the core data on both customers and products. It was also essential to get access to the extensive GS1 food database.

Together with the in-house IT department, Chainbox installed the new integration, after which customer and product data, customer prices and so on were available to visitors in the shop. All features were fully tested together with the in-house sales team and selected customers.

The visual design of the website was done in-house, and all the previous content was easily moved over by Grøn Fokus' own staff.

Together with Grøn Fokus, Chainbox developed a number of features to make things easier for customers.

Features in the new B2B webshop

The solution is based on our standard integration with their ERP system and Umbraco CMS, extended with tailored functionality.

GS1 data integration

GS1 is a food database where food producers create and maintain the products that Grøn Fokus, among others, sells. So we built an integration that automatically fetches data on both new and existing products, at least once an hour.

The integration transfers ingredients, nutritional content, allergen information and images where Grøn Fokus hasn't added one themselves.

A structured process for handling new products

We've used Chainbox PIM to set up a tailored product lifecycle flow, so everyone in purchasing and product creation can clearly see when there are new products for them to handle. From there they can manage enrichment, categorisation, range restrictions and any other information needed.

Customer-specific product ranges

Grøn Fokus has a long list of products that only selected customers or chains should be able to buy. So we built efficient range restrictions based on existing data points on the product and the customer. Staff can set up the restrictions themselves when new scenarios come up, and the solution is scalable and flexible.

Flexible order cut-off times

Products in the PIM system can be given a specific cut-off time, after which they can no longer be ordered for the next day.

Documenting traceability

Traceability is crucial when selling food, and Grøn Fokus needed a technical solution that lets customers document it. We added a simple feature where customers can print the document for a delivery directly from the customer area in the shop when they're logged in. The printout includes the actual delivery date, taken from the order system.

Inherited favourite lists

Grøn Fokus has many large chain customers that need to reuse favourite lists across different departments and shops. To make this easy to manage, a website user can be made favourite list administrator. That lets them create favourite lists and assign them to specific users. When the lists are changed, they're updated immediately for all users.
