Chainbox Webshop

The webshop for businesses that sell to other businesses and have the ERP at the centre. Customers order themselves, your sales reps can order for them, and large customers can buy via punch‑out from their own procurement system.

A webshop system for complex product ranges and customer agreements

The webshop uses the same prices, products, customers and orders you already work with in the ERP. It gets data through the Chainbox platform and works with Chainbox PIM, so product data and sales fit together.

You can start with the standard version and adapt it when your business needs something special.

The webshop builds on your ERP

The webshop gets data from your ERP and sends the orders back, so you only maintain data in one place.

The ERP is the master

Your ERP is still the master

The webshop works on the same data as the rest of the Chainbox platform, and your ERP is the source of:

  • products and product data

  • customers

  • prices and price lists

  • discounts

  • sales orders

  • invoices and credit notes

  • other customer-specific information

Data is mirrored to the Chainbox platform, where the webshop can work fast without putting load on your ERP. How often, and how it works, depends on your ERP.

Built-in pricing engine

Same price as in the ERP, even when it's complicated

The webshop calculates prices using the same pricing model as your ERP, even when you have lots of price lists, customer agreements, discounts and combinations of rules.

Prices are only maintained in the ERP, and customers get the same price online as from your sales reps.

All sales count

Recommendations are based on all sales from the ERP

When a customer sees their most-bought products, or when the webshop suggests products that are often bought together, it's based on all the sales in the ERP. If a customer usually buys a product over the phone, it's ready to reorder in the webshop too.

Consistent order handling

The order is handled like every other order

When a customer places an order in the webshop, it's transferred to your ERP and handled by the same rules and processes as an order keyed in manually.

Selected B2B features

Features for businesses that sell to other businesses, with large customers, fixed agreements and sales reps on the road.

Punch-out

Make it easier to sell to larger customers

If you sell to larger companies or public organisations, the webshop can become part of your customers' procurement flow via punch-out. The webshop supports, among others:

  • OCI 3

  • OCI 4

  • OCI 5

  • cXML

The customer starts in their own procurement system and is sent on to the webshop, where products are added to the basket. The basket is sent back to the procurement system, which handles the rest of the process.

Chainbox doesn't handle the order from the procurement system. You need to be able to receive it yourselves, usually via EDI.

Display

Open catalogue or closed B2B

The webshop can be set up to show products with or without prices, with or without the option to buy, or only after login. An open catalogue and a closed B2B area can run in the same webshop.

You switch the display of variants, prices and the "add to basket" button on and off yourselves.

Customer-specific product ranges

Customer-specific product ranges

Control exactly which products each customer or user can see and buy, for example:

  • products that require certain certifications

  • products that may only be sold in certain markets

  • customer-specific products or agreements

  • different product ranges for different types of customer

You set up the rules directly in the solution, without development.

Reorders

Quick reordering

Most B2B customers use the webshop to buy the same things again. They can reorder from:

  • previous invoices and orders

  • favourite lists

  • their own most-bought products

A large order can also be imported as a CSV file straight into the basket.

Sales rep login

Your sales reps can order for your customers

Your sales reps log in with their normal login and can order on behalf of the customers they work with, either all customers or a selection.

That way they can help the customer directly in the webshop, even when they're out visiting them.

Large product ranges

The webshop is built for large catalogues, both when there are a few categories with lots of variants and when there are thousands of products in a deep category hierarchy. You structure the range with the levels of categories, product groups, variants and attributes that suit your business, so customers have several routes to the right product.

Search and filters

Free-text search finds products, categories and content, even when the customer misspells something, and with synonyms it also finds products using the words your customers use.

On product lists, you choose which filters customers can use. The filters are based on the product data and are hidden automatically if no products in the list have a value. You can control the filters per level in the category hierarchy and on the product lists you add to your content.

It's Umbraco + magic sauce

The webshop is built on Umbraco, and our extensions connect your content with your products.

Cross-related content

Content and products are connected

Build guides, brand pages, size guides or other content in Umbraco, and link it to products directly or via category, brand or tags. The relationships work both ways, so the content is shown automatically on the product pages it belongs to.

Cross-related content
Product lists in your content

Product lists right in your content

With our extensions to Umbraco, you set up product lists based on filters and place them wherever you like in your content.

The lists update themselves as new products arrive and old ones are discontinued, so the landing page doesn't need changing every time the range changes.

See the product list while you edit

When you add a dynamic product list to a page in Umbraco, it's shown directly in the editor exactly as it'll look on the webshop, with the products your filter picks up.

If you change the filter, you see straight away which products are included, so you don't have to save and open the page to check the result.

Flexible setup

Much of what normally needs a developer, you can set up yourselves in Umbraco.

Layout

The webshop comes with standard templates for product and category pages, so you don't need to set anything up. You control the basic look yourselves in the theme settings in Umbraco: square or rounded style, header layout and background, and colours for the navigation and footer.

If you want a different layout on product and category pages, you can build your own templates with rows and columns and choose what goes where, for example images, buy box, related content, category navigation and product lists. One template can be used for the whole webshop, or you can give individual products and categories their own layout with a field in PIM. You can make smaller visual adjustments yourselves with your own CSS and JavaScript under Scripts & styles.

Layout
Content

As well as text and images, Umbraco has a wide range of ready-made components you can add to pages yourselves, for example:

  • Content slider with images, headings and links to the content you want to point customers towards.

  • Contact form, where you decide the fields yourselves, for example item number, quantity and file upload.

  • Timeline for your history or a project, vertical or horizontal.

And there are many more, for example USPs, parallax images, video, Trustpilot and product lists.

Checkout

You set up payment and delivery in Umbraco. You can offer payment by invoice and card payment via QuickPay, and if you have several payment methods, the customer chooses at checkout. A payment fee can be added as a product from the ERP, with a threshold above which the fee is dropped.

For delivery, you choose which countries you deliver to, and whether the customer can collect, choose a parcel shop or have it delivered to their door. Each delivery method can be limited by country and weight, and the shipping charge can come from a product in the ERP, with free shipping above an amount you decide. The customer can also choose a later delivery date.

Payment and delivery methods can be shown differently to customers who are logged in and those who aren't.

SaaS that can be customised

The whole solution is SaaS: we run it, monitor it and update it. The webshop runs as a dedicated installation just for you, so it can be customised, while PIM and Sales Insight are shared. If the webshop is customised, it comes with an update agreement, and your solution is updated to the current version 4 times a year.

Chainbox Webshop FAQ

We do. The whole solution is SaaS, and we handle hosting, security, monitoring and updates.

PIM, Sales Insight and the integrations run on shared systems on the platform. The webshop runs in its own isolated environment with its own Umbraco backend and its own microservice, and the front end runs redundantly, so it copes with failures and can be updated without downtime.

Data from the data mirror and PIM is replicated into a cache at the webshop, which it only reads from. That gives it fast access to your data without putting load on your ERP or the shared systems, and we monitor the whole chain from ERP to webshop as one.

Yes. Logins are unique and linked to a customer account, so logins can be created for the customer's employees per email address. Your own sales reps and customer service staff can get access with sales rep privileges and switch between customer accounts when they're logged in via SSO.

Yes. If your range has outgrown your webshop in, for example, Shopify, Shopware or Magento, Chainbox PIM and the integration with your ERP can sit behind it while you keep your front end. Your agency fetches data via our API, and the integration with the ERP stays with us, so it doesn't need rebuilding if you later change webshop system or ERP.

Usually your agency makes the first contact, so together we can work out whether there's a technical match and how much developer support they need.
