Pegani in Horsens specialises in magic props and performer equipment, sold to both professional and hobby magicians all over the world. Since 1987 they've gone all the way from mail‑order catalogues with line drawings to a modern webshop.

They share the art of magic with great passion and organise festivals, among other things, where children and adults can meet the big stars and be inspired to take up magic themselves.
Chainbox has delivered a webshop integrated with their ERP system, based on Umbraco CMS, and PIM for product data. The webshop is for both B2B and B2C sales, with a focus on B2C. That's also reflected in the customisations, including local VAT based on delivery country, automatic login creation for existing customers and video overlays on product images.
Choosing Chainbox
When asked why Pegani chose Chainbox, Steen Pegani has to think a long way back, and of course it was a magician who made the introduction. Steen says: “We were looking for a supplier who could build a webshop integrated with our ERP system. We didn't have any luck with the ones we contacted, so a fellow magician offered to ask someone he knew at Chainbox. 14 days later we were shown an integrated solution, and we were off.”
“My basic feeling and experience after 13 years with Chainbox is that anything is possible. I present them with the scenario that needs solving, and they build the technology.”

Trust and credibility
It's no boast when Pegani says they supply magic to the whole world. Behind every delivery country there are customers who use pegani.dk.
With their customers, being trustworthy is everything: the webshop has to be stable and the data always up to date, so they can keep their promises. That's why integrating Trustpilot reviews and e-mærket certification are both important tools for building trust.
Everyday life with PIM and Umbraco
Pegani manage all content themselves in Umbraco CMS, whose clear modular structure lets them update pages, create events with sign-up forms and share their mission and knowledge - whenever they want.
“I have to admit I was sceptical when Chainbox introduced the PIM system, because I thought we already had good processes for handling product data. But it really gave us a lift. We can change and enrich product data straight away, move or create new categories, and we wouldn't be without it,” Steen explains.
Customisations to the webshop
Pegani has chosen a number of customisations to the webshop that improve the experience and make it feel more local, wherever in the world you're shopping from:
Currency conversion in prices
All prices on pegani.dk are in DKK, but are also shown converted to EUR or USD depending on which country you're shopping from. This is handled by a currency converter in Umbraco.
VAT one-stop shop
Choosing a delivery country calculates the correct local VAT within the EU, no matter where in the checkout the customer changes country.
Automatic login creation
Every customer who buys on pegani.dk automatically gets a login, giving access to their own customer area where they can see orders, view and reprint invoices, and create lists for regular reorders.
Local payment methods
With currency conversion to SEK and NOK in the webshop when paying with Swish and Vipps, Pegani can sell in Danish kroner and still offer payment methods that need local currency, without maintaining price lists in several currencies in their ERP system.
Video overlay on product images
With a play button on product images, it's even quicker to see a video demonstration of the products.
Small company - big efficiency
With few employees, it's important that everyday work runs as efficiently as possible. Pegani prioritises advising and guiding its customers, and there's only time for that when everything else runs smoothly. Besides Chainbox's customisations, Pegani has built its own link between Quickpay, Consignor and their ERP system. At the end of the day, a file with the day's shipments is pulled and matched with the corresponding invoices. The relevant invoice amounts are captured in Quickpay, and the matching entries are created in the cash journal in the ERP system, ready for posting.
Second-hand magic
At Pegani they care a lot about giving the products they sell as long a life as possible. As part of that, they've developed a system with Chainbox for selling second-hand items efficiently. That puts quite different demands on the product flow. So an alternative flow has been developed that, among other things, makes sure the second-hand item is marked as sold the moment a payment for it goes through.
